Learn the Art of Embroidery – 6 Weeks

Embroidery is available as a 6 week course or 1 day class. Please call us for more information and/or to schedule. Learn the tricks and tips for embroidery. Customize your own garments by giving them a fresh personal touch with already-made pictures or pictures drawn by yourself. Work on a project and embellish it by adding a nice figure and embroidering it.

Learn to embroider! Learn backstitch and chain stitch to make lines, drawings, and letters. Learn fishbone stitches to make leaves of all shapes and sizes. Learn how to make: roses, daisies, and baby’s breath flowers to create a design in an embroidery hoop OR bring your own clothes to customize jeans, jackets, and shirt collars.

Making Clothes is Fun – Teens (6 Weeks – 2 Hrs)

Making Clothes is Fun is a 6 week course for teenagers. Fundamental skills and techniques will be covered including:
1. - Overview of different types of sewing
  - Introduction to essential sewing tools and materials
  - Different types of fabrics and their characteristics (cotton, polyester, denim, etc.)
  - How to choose appropriate fabric for different projects
  - Threading a needle and tying knots
  - Basic stitches (running stitch, backstitch, whipstitch, etc.)
  - Introduction to the sewing machine (parts and functions)
  - Practice sewing straight lines and curves on scrap fabrics
  - Introduction to reading sewing patterns
  - Basic pattern alterations (lengthening, shortening, adjusting fit)
  - Proper use and handling of sewing tools and equipment
  - Safe practices when using sewing machines
